CNCA joins “RISE-IN” project to Bridge Environmental Resilience and Finance

Pioneering a New Path for Climate Adaptation: CNCA joins “RISE-IN” project to Bridge Environmental Resilience and Finance

The Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance is part of the consortium “RISE-IN”, funded by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) and HorizonEurope to pioneer a new approach to climate adaptation by bridging the gap between environmental resilience and financial viability.

Focusing on nature-based solutions (NBS) for flood risk management, the project introduces the concept of Bankability Readiness Level (BRL) — a novel metric to assess, enhance and unlock investment potential of climate-resilient solutions. Through a unique blend of climate risk assessment, stakeholder co-creation, and social innovation, RISE-IN transforms cities into living labs for sustainable, scalable and financially attractive interventions. Demonstrated across diverse contexts in Italy, Portugal, and New Zealand, and replicated in cities across Europe and beyond, RISE-IN not only mitigates climate risks – it redefines how we invest in our future.

CNCA will play a central role in sharing the project’s results by hosting sessions where RISE-IN Cities can showcase its progress to CNCA member cities and partners. Through these exchanges, CNCA will help ensure the project’s models are transferable by encouraging collaboration and supporting their uptake across its wider network.
