Building Climate Preparedness Capacity in Priority Communities
City Lead: Sydney
Year Completed: 2025
Sydney collaborated with priority communities to co-design a pilot program to help residents prepare for the impacts of climate change and advocate for the changes they need to become more resilient to shocks and stresses. The project built capacity and knowledge in the community, specifically in how to prepare for climate change, improving food security and emergency preparedness.
Outputs: The pilot program changed the standard Red Cross template for disaster preparedness to fit the pilot community’s needs and included the design of a redikit. As a result, redikits were distributed to 300 local Glebe and Forest Lodge residents identified by the community partners.
