Citizen Co-Design for a Just Transition to Net Zero in Glasgow
City Lead: Glasgow
Year Completed: 2025
This project co-designed citizen-centered approaches to climate change, to embed local people in decision making and support delivery of a just transition in Glasgow. The project was designed to make the just transition less abstract to citizens by building a narrative about what a fairer, greener future could look like; and carry out meaningful community engagement, which will empower citizens and increase public participation to secure a just transition.
Outputs:
- Report: The project partners, Glasgow Caledonian University, developed a report that presents the findings of a desk-based review undertaken to provide deeper insights on just transition and how to achieve this through a critique of published peer-reviewed and grey literature.
- Community Narratives: In addition, Glasgow‘s partner, the Village Storytelling Centre, created a community led collection of stories, ‘Past Futures’, detailing Pollok residents’ memories and feelings about where they live and their hopes and fears in response to climate change.
