
Stefan Schurig
Managing Director, Toni Piėch Foundation; and Supervisory Board Member, Hamburg Sustainabiliy Conference (HSC)
Stefan Schurig is an architect by training and is currently the Managing Director of the Swiss based Toni Piėch Foundation and a member of the Supervisory Board of the Hamburg Sustainabiliy Conference (HSC). Stefan co-founded the Foundations 20 Platform (F20) and served as their Secretary General for some 8 years until end of 2024. F20 is a global network of more than 80 Foundations supporting the alignment of the G20 with the Paris Climate Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Before, Stefan was a member of the Executive Board of the World Future Council Foundation (WFC) and Head of the Climate and Energy department for some 10 years. In this capacity, Stefan was closely involved with policy campaigns on sustainable development, renewable energy and regenerative cities. He established WFC-offices in the EU, China, India, United States and South Africa. Stefan also served as an appointed member of the Steering Committee of the World Urban Campaign of the UN-HABITAT between 2010-2016. He authored and co-authored various publications on environmental protection, energy and urban development in recent years. He was also teaching a master class at the Hamburg University for the Built Environment (HCU) until 2019. In earlier years, Stefan was a member of the Senior Management Team and spokesperson of Greenpeace for ten years.
